Engines

Well, this page is where you can find out about the engines we are creating. Now most of our work is in XNA but some of us are also looking into native C++ game engines usign DirectX9 and onwards (if I ever get some decent hardware).

At the moment we have two engines in production and both written in XNA (Chr0n1x is also creating an engine, but he has not shown anyone one any part of it yet….selfish if you ask me) I guess I will start with mine and leave a space for Daphyd to tell you all about his (if he ever gets on here lol)

RandomChaos 3D Engine

Now the first cut of this engine started back in 2006 when XNA first launched and I found an AWESOME tutorial site called The Ramblings of a  Hazy Mind ran an maintained by Mike Shuld and was based on his HazyMind engine. As you will see if you take a look at the forum there, I became obsessed!! This is what really got me into XNA, the community there was vibrant and we all seemed to be in the same place technically, it was (and still is) great.

So I was kind of creating my own flavor of Mikes engine and adding to it all the time, it was a great learning tool. Here  are some pics of the old engine (XNA 1.0 – 2.0)

As well as  making posts here I started my own blog which eventualy moved over to the XNA-UK User Group and that is where I have stayed, posting on my dicoveries and ideas in XNA. We are now in the third version of XNA and I ahve decided to pull my posts together from my blog to make a new  engine.

Chr0n1x and I still post on the Hazy Mind and hope to be doing something with Mike in the near future. So if you want to know more about the new version of the RandomChaos 3D Engine, take a look at this page

Anarchy Engine

As I said before, this is Dave’s engine, so I will leave this bit for him to fill in….
